A music teacher was arrested in Dehradun for allegedly raping a minor girl, who was under his tutelage, police said on Saturday.
Following a complaint by the girl’s father, the police arrested Vishwas Dutt Sharma (42) from Prem Nagar area.
On the basis of the complaint, a case was immediately registered at the Premnagar police station under Section 64 BNS and 3(g)/4 POCSO Act against Sharma.
“In view of the seriousness of the case, the Senior Superintendent of Police Dehradun Ajai Singh gave necessary instructions to the SHO Premnagar for the arrest of the accused. A police team was formed which collected information and arrested Vishwas Dutt Sharma from Daru Chowk Premnagar on 04-07-2025 within 24 hours,” a police statement said.
