Rains again in Doon, red alert declared, schools closed on Wednesday (updating)

A day after pounding Dehradun that threw life out of gear, rains have again started lashing the Doon Valley on Tuesday night. All schools in Dehradun will remain closed on Wednesday.

A red alert has already been declared for heavy to very heavy rains in Dehradun on Wednesday and some other districts of the hill state including Haridwar, Tehri, Nainital and Udhamsingh Nagar, said Rohit Thapliyal, Senior Scientist Met department Dehradun. Dehradun recorded 180 mm of rains on Monday that inundated several areas in the city triggering heavy floods in most of the rivers including Bindal and Rispana.
