Ending the long dryspell, higher reaches and plains of north India experienced snowfall and rains that plummeted temperature considerably in the entire region including cities like Delhi, Dehradun and Jammu.
In the plains, rains lashed several parts of Himachal, Uttarakhand and Jammu and Kashmir and other states. The capital Delhi also experienced light rainfall.
Parts of Jammu and Kashmir also experienced snowfall.
After the snowfall, people were seen wearing sweaters and jackets in the hills. In Dehradun, the minimum temperature fell by four notches to 11.4 degree C on Monday on as the city recorded 25 mm of rainfall in last evening. The maximum temperature also on Sunday came down by four notches to 28.5 degree C.
Snowfall lashed the lofty peaks of both the Garhwal and Kumaon regions. Kedarnath, Badrinath, Gangotri, Yamunotri, and Munsyari also experienced intermittent snowfall.
Meanwhile, light to moderate rainfall was recorded in Dehradun and other plains of the state. The Met Department has predicted more rains and snowfall in the next few days.
Met centre in Dehradun said light to moderate rain/thunderstorm/snowfall (at places with altitude 3200m and above) likely to occur at many places in hilly districts of Uttarakhand tomorrow. Light to moderate rainfall/thunderstorm likely to occur at few places in plain districts tomorrow.
