The Uttarakhand police has launched an inquiry amid allegations that a top-ranking police official was having drinks in a Dehradun bar restaurant shortly after the midnight on Saturday-Sunday, a time when the tavern should have been closed.

After a spate of murders early this year in the state caption of Uttarakhand, the Dehradun district administration has enforced strong regulations under which all the bars and restaurants should down their shutters by 1100 PM.

However, CPI-ML leader Indresh Maikhuri in a social media post has alleged that the top police official was found drinking in Romeo Lane bar when a police team went there to enforce its closures after the midnight. The post immediately went viral.

Miffed over these allegations, Uttarakhand DGP Deepam Seth sought separate inquiries by IG Garhwal Rajiv Swaroop and SSP Dehradun Pramendra Singh Dobal to send their reports to the police headquarters within 24 hours.
