Prem Chand Agarwal’s son faces more troubles

The troubles against beleaguered former Uttarakhand cabinet minister Prem Chand Agarwal, who was forced to resign, are not yet over.

The new troubles are related to Agarwal’s son Piyush Agarwal who was booked under the Public Property Act for allegedly constructing a road on government land without the permission of the authorities. A case has been filed in a Yamkeshwar court against Piyush Agarwal for allegedly constructing road for his proposed resort. A 24 meter long and four meter wide road was illegally constructed on government land without any permission in village Khairkhal near the holy town of Rishikesh.

Recently, Piyush’s father was forced to resign from his ministerial post after being accused of making unparliamentary comments in the Vidhan Sabha in February which created a big controversy in the state.

Piyush was under scanner early this year for allegedly cutting khair trees without permission for the construction of his resort. Under the direction of Chief Minister Pushkar Dhami, a case was registered against Piyush Agarwal by the forest department for cutting two khair trees which are protected species. A total of 26 trees were cut at Khairkhal. State Forest Minister Subodh Unniyal has ordered an inquiry.

In 2018, Piyush Agarwal was forced to resign from the post of assistant engineer in Jal Sansthan after his father faced severe criticism from the opposition parties for allegedly helping his son to get the job through ex-army quota. At that time, Agarwal was the state assembly Speaker.
