Stone pelting in Doiwala after death of teenage girl in screening plant

Enraged people pelted stones as tension prevailed in Doiwala area of Dehradun district in Uttarakhand on Sunday after a teenage girl was found dead inside a room of a stone crusher.

The 14 year old girl had gone to collect waste from the stone crusher where she was allegedly locked inside a room by its workers on Saturday. Later, she was found hanging in the room. All the four workers have been taken into custody and are being interrogated by the police.

The family members alleged that she was sexually abused and murdered, a charge which could not be corroborated by the investigating sleuths.

As the news of the death of the girl spread, a large number of people gathered near the plant and started throwing stones and blocking the main Doiwala road.

Police force rushed to spot to restore normalcy in the area even as people demanded strict action against the culprits.

SSP Dehradun Ajai Singh met the family members of the girl and said strict action would be taken against the culprits.

A special team was formed under the supervision of SP Rishikesh for detailed investigation in the entire case, the SSP said. “The team will collect all evidences and scientifically test all physical/electronic evidence,” he said.

A Forensic team also inspected the crime scene and collected necessary evidence in the case.

Postmortem of the body was done by a panel of doctors which also included a female doctor. However, preliminary information did not reveal any kind of sexual assault/physical injuries with the deceased.
