Two persons were killed and two injured after a speeding dumper truck collided with a car at Lachhiwala Toll Plaza in Dehradun on Monday morning, police said.

The impact of the accident was so severe that the car was sandwiched between a pole and the dumper killing the two persons on the spot. Two more vehicles were also damaged partially in the accident.

The police said that the accident apparently occurred after the brakes of the dumper failed.

The deceased have been identified as Ratanmani Unniyal and Pankaj Kumar, who both belong to Dehradun. The two were going to Tehri where they were working in District Court.

The driver of the dumper has been arrested.
