Two persons, one from Gurugram, drown in Ganga at Rishikesh

Two persons were swept away in the swollen Ganga near Rishikesh, police said on Sunday.

Shrinivasan Vardhrajan Gopalan (47) a native of Gurugram in Haryana, was swept away in the Ganga river at Rishikesh on Sunday. On receiving the information, a specialized SDRF team began search operation in the Ganga to find Gopalan near Dayanand Ashram Ghat in Rishikesh where he was drowned in the river.

In yet another incident, one unidentified person was drowned in the Ganga at Laxmanjhula area on Saturday.

The SDRF divers were searching both the persons at different locations in the river.
