At least 85 schoolgirls were killed and dozens wounded in an Israeli strike on a school in southern Iran on Saturday, an Iranian media report said.
The Shajareye Tayabeh all-girls elementary school in Minab, Hormozgan Province, came under direct attack early on Saturday as part of the joint US-Israeli joint strikes against Iran, IRNA said. However, there was no independent confirmation of the Israel attack on the school.
Iranian Vice President Mohammad-Reza Aref condemned the strike saying it was a clear example of war crimes and a blatant violation of international regulations.
In a message, Aref said the attack which was carried out under support from the United States, will not go unpunished. He vowed a strong and proportionate response to all the culprits of this crime.
“Security and dignity of the Iranian nation is our red line and no aggression will remain without a cost,” he stressed.
Aref said that Iran will use all its legal, political and international potential to pursue the case of this crime in the international bodies and expects the international community not to keep silent against the continuation of these acts of aggression.
