China on top in medal tally, India at 53

China was on the top of the medal tally winning 16 gold medals at the end of the day 8 on Saturday in Paris Olympics.

The US jumped to second position bagging 14 gold medals and the hosts France was on third place with 12 gold medals.

While US and France have bagged a total of 61 and 41 medals respectively, China was on the top despite winning only 37 medals so far. Australia was on fourth place.

India slipped to 53rd position as it failed to win more medals. India has won only 3 bronze medals so far.
