Gill inches close to break Don’s record of 810 runs (updating)

Indian skipper Shubman Gill on Thursday was inching close to break legendary Don Bradman’s record of 810 runs in a test series as a captain. Gill also broke another legendary Sunil Gavaskar’s 732 runs record against West Indies in 1978-79. Gavaskar has also held another record of scoring 774 runs by an Indian in any series which is also against West Indies in 1971.

Gill was run out at 21 in the first innings of the fifth and last test match at Oval and  68 runs away from the 90 year old record which was made by Bradman during the 1936-37 Ashes series. Gill has already amassed 743 runs in the current series. Gill is only 32 runs away to break Gavaskar’s record of 774 with second innings still left.

India was 204/6 at the draw of stumps with Karun Nair scoring unbeaten 52.
