After accident, Rawat thanks people for good wishes

After his miraculous escape in a car accident, former Uttarakhand Chief Minister Harish Rawat was back in Dehradun on Sunday and said he was safe because of the good wishes of the people.

“I am safe because of the good wishes of the people. This is part of the life which is full of struggles. From the bottom of my heart, I am really thankful to my well-wishers,” said Rawat surrounded by his supporters at his Defence Colony residence in Dehradun.

In a social media post, Rawat said “I am fine, there is nothing to worry about, the car has definitely been damaged.”

Rawat escaped unhurt when his car met with an accident in Meerut area of Uttar Pradesh when he was returning from New Delhi. The car was badly damaged in the accident, Rawat said. Security personnel also received a minor injury. An inquiry has been ordered to ascertain the cause of the accident.

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said “I spoke to him (Rawat) on the phone to inquire about his well-being and was relieved to learn that he is safe. I pray for his long life”.
