Two IAF pilots killed in Sukhoi crash in Assam

A Sukhoi Su-30MKI fighter jet of the Indian Air Force (IAF) crashed in Assam’s Karbi Anglong district on Thursday evening killing both the pilots.

The incident occurred during a routine training mission, with the aircraft losing radar contact soon after departing from Jorhat and was last at contact at 7.42 PM.

Squadron Leader Anuj and Flight Lieutenant Purvesh Duragkar, the two pilots of the fighter jet, died in the crash.

The IAF extended condolences to the families of the deceased officers. “IAF acknowledges the loss of Sqn Ldr Anuj and Flt Lt Purvesh Duragkar, who sustained fatal injuries in the Su-30 crash. All personnel of the IAF express sincere condolences, and stand firmly with the bereaved family in this time of grief,” IAF said in a statement on X.
