Ayatollah Arafi appointed new Iran interim leader

Acting swiftly, Iran on Saturday named senior cleric Ayatollah Arafi as its new interim supreme leader.

The move came hours after Ayatollah Ali Khamenei was killed in air strikes by the US and Israel. President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu have announced that Iranian supreme leader Khamenei was dead in Tehran in the joint strikes, a claim which was confirmed by the state Iranian TV.

Meanwhile, Trump has warned Iran not to hit back saying the US would launch unprecedented force in case of retaliation.

On the other hand, Iran vowed to avenge the killing of Khamenei as it launched retaliatory strikes against Israel and other US’ interests in the region.

Israel also claimed that it has launched a fierce attack in the heart of Tehra on Sunday.
