A BJP youth wing leader was killed and two others injured in a high-speed car crash near ISBT in Dehradun on Saturday night, police said.
The car driver identified as Ayan who fled from the accident site was later taken into custody.
Jitendra Bisht, a resident of Keshav Vihar, Chandrabani, who died in the accident was a former DAV college President and general secretary of the youth wing of the state BJP.
The accident occurred when the car, driven by Ayan, a mechanic, was going from St. Jude Chowk towards Transport Nagar near ISBT in high speed, suddenly hit some people, injuring three people including Bisht.
After getting the information, police immediately reached the spot and found a white coloured damaged Nissan Micra car parked near Transport Nagar. People nearby informed that the driver of this car had hit some pedestrians injuring some of them. All the injured were taken to a hospital where Bisht died.
The vehicle was later seized and the driver taken into custody. “We are questioning the driver on various angles,” a police official said.
