Dehradun: The Uttarakhand government is under pressure to set up a SIT probe over the alleged paper leak at Veer Madho Singh Bhandari Uttarakhand Technical University after Congress claimed that the incident has once again exposed the government’s failure to curb examination fraud despite repeated assurances.
Official sources said the government is exploring various option including a SIT probe into the alleged paper leak and take strong action.
Addressing a press conference in Dehradun, state Congress Senior Vice-President Suryakant Dhasmana alleged that the latest paper leak had shattered the government’s claims of ensuring transparent and fair examinations. Dhasmana and state party chief Ganesh Godiyal separately demanded a SIT inquiry into the paper leak.
Dhasmana said nearly a dozen paper leak incidents had occurred in the state in recent years, jeopardising the future of lakhs of students. He alleged that despite making tall claims about taking strict action against those involved in examination fraud, the government had failed to dismantle the alleged paper leak network.
Claiming that unemployment in the state was at its peak, Dhasmana alleged that individuals accused of involvement in paper leak and recruitment scams were enjoying government protection. He asserted that the latest incident reflected the BJP government’s inability to safeguard the interests of students.
The Congress leader also levelled allegations of widespread corruption against the BJP government, claiming that irregularities had even affected religious institutions. He referred to alleged thefts of temple offerings at Kedarnath, Badrinath and the Ram Temple in Ayodhya, and accused the BJP and the RSS of remaining silent on these issues.
Dhasmana said the Congress would make examination paper leaks, recruitment scams and the alleged theft of temple offerings key issues in the run-up to the next Uttarakhand Assembly elections. He asserted that the party would take these issues to the people and hold the BJP government accountable.
