Exit polls on Wednesday claimed that the BJP may secure a majority in the Delhi assembly elections.

The majority mark in the 70-seat Delhi assembly is 36 seats and the results of the elections will be declared on February 8. The polling was held on Wednesday recording approximately 58 percent turnout.

Most of the exit polls gave BJP 35-41 seats pushing the ruling AAP to the second place at 25-31. Congress was projected to win only 1-2 seats.

The opposition parties have blamed Congress leader Rahul Gandhi for failing to honour the India Alliance which was cobbled up ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha election.

Meanwhile, Congress leaders including Pawan Khera have criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi for taking holy dip at the Sangam in Prayagraj apparently to influence voters on a day when the polling was taking place in the Delhi assembly elections.
