India to meet England on Mar 5 as it enters T20 WC semifinals

Overcoming initial hiccups, India on Sunday managed to beat West Indies by 5 wickets (4 balls left) to enter semi-finals of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup at Eden Gardens in Kolkata.
India will now meet England at Wankhade Stadium in Mumbai on March 5 in the semifinal to decide who will play from the winner of other semis in the final at Ahmedabad on March 8.
South Africa and New Zealand will clash at Eden Gardens in Kolkata on March 4 in the first semifinal.
In the decisive Super 8 match against West Indies, India won the toss and chose to field first. West Indies’ openers Shai Hope and Roston Chase played nicely and took the score to 68 runs. After Hope was out, Shimron Hetmyer also played some classy shots but was out on the bowling of Jasprit Bumrah at 27 runs. In between Abhishek Sharma dropped two catches.
Thereafter, West Indies lost three more wickets. Later Rovman Powell and Jason Holder took the score from 119 to 195 in 20 overs. The two players remained not out.
Chasing the target of 196 runs, Abhishek Sharma was cheaply dismissed for only 10 runs. On the other hand, Sanju Samson kept the momentum going and continued to hit sixes and fours. He remained unbeaten on 97 runs.
Despite losing two wickets cheaply, Indian kept on adding runs. Samson got vital support from Tilak Varma who scored 27 runs. In the end, Samson and Shivam Dube gave India the vital victory and also a place in the semis.
