The early trends in the counting of votes indicated that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) was getting a tough fight against India alliance in the general elections.
Most of the new channels gave a narrow lead of 25 to 75 seats to the ruling NDA with the opposition showing improvements in Uttar Pradesh and some other states. BJP was leading in West Bengal.
Prime Minister Modi was leading from his Varanasi seat.
