Small-time BJP leader shot dead in Dehradun in personal rivalry (updating)

Motorcycle-borne gunmen shot dead a small-time BJP leader at Manduwala area of Dehradun last night, police said.

The assailants later escaped. A manhunt has been launched to nab them, top police officials said.

The incident occurred when a group of friends were sitting inside a Bolero vehicle at Peepal Chowk Manduwala when the assailants came on a bike and fired from a close range on the front side of the four-wheeler. A bullet pierced through the neck of one Rohit Negi, who died on the way to a hospital. Negi was a small-time leader in the youth BJP.

On the basis of a complaint filed by one Abhishek Bartwal, who is friend of Rohit, an FIR number- 104/2025 Section- 103(1), 3(5) BNS has been registered at Police Station Premnagar.

Preliminary investigations revealed that Rohit might have been killed in an incident related to an alleged cheating in love.
