The women wing of Uttarakhand Congress led by Jyoti Rautela on Thursday staged a protest march against the state government’s indifference towards exorbitant fees hike by private schools in the hill state particularly in Dehradun.
“Today, along with my colleagues from the Mahila Congress, I staged a protest outside the residence of the State Education Minister Dhan Singh Rawat against the (school fees hike) issue. If the government fails to put an end to this orchestrated looting, we will organize even larger protests in the future,” Rautela said.
“Under the BJP government’s rule, education has become commercialized. School fees are hiked every year. Parents are being forced to pay three months’ fees in a single instalment. Fees are also being collected under the guise of building maintenance. Yet, the government sits idle,” she said.
