Dehradun-based St. Joseph’s Academy held its Middle School and Senior School Investiture Ceremony on Saturday (May 3) in the school auditorium.
The event was graced by Chief Guest Brigadier Harish Kumar Sethi, a decorated Indian Army officer and distinguished alumnus. The ceremony was also attended by Principal Rev. Bro. Joseph M. Joseph, Community Leader Rev. Bro. Astinus Kujur, President Alumni Association SJA Maj Gen (Retd) Sanjay Sharma, Mr Tirupati Juneja (Secretary; SJA Alumni Association), Akash Jain (Treasurer; SJA Alumni Association), School Coordinators, Parents of the newly appointed Council Members as well as members of the staff, and students from classes VIII, X, XI and XII.
The ceremony commenced with a solemn prayer and the lighting of the ceremonial lamp, followed by a graceful prayer dance that set a reverent tone for the proceedings. The stage, adorned with school and house flags and emblems, created an atmosphere of pride and tradition. In a symbolic gesture of responsibility, the newly elected council members received their badges from the Chief Guest and other dignitaries, officially marking their induction into leadership roles. The oath of office, led by the Principal, SJA, Rev. Bro. Joseph for the Senior School and Rev. Bro. Kujur for the Middle School, was a moving moment of collective commitment to integrity, diligence, and service. Cultural performances added vibrancy to the event, with captivating musical renditions by the English Choir and vocal performances by the Torrins Band, showcasing the diverse talents of the students. These performances highlighted the creative spirit thriving at St. Joseph’s Academy.
In his address, Brigadier Sethi who has commanded several regiments and played a vital role in the training of Agniveers for the Armoured Corps, urged the student leaders not to waste time but to emulate the core values of discipline, courage, and commitment, which are integral not only to the armed forces but also to leadership in everyday life. As a token of gratitude and appreciation, the school presented a memento to Brigadier Sethi in honour of his distinguished service and continued connection with his alma mater. The Principal, Rev. Bro. Joseph in his concluding remarks, congratulated the council members and reminded them that with great power comes great responsibility and to be role models to their peers to judiciously choose the right path in life.
The dignified event concluded with the stirring rendition of the school song. The successful conduct of the Investiture Ceremony 2025 reflects the collaborative spirit of the school administration, faculty, students, and parents to uphold the proud legacy of SJA where excellence is nurtured, leadership is inspired, and character is formed.
