2027 assembly polls: BJP sent Ajay Kumar to Rajasthan

PrashantNews

In a significant organisational reshuffle ahead of the 2027 Uttarakhand Assembly elections, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has transferred its long-serving Uttarakhand General Secretary (Organisation), Ajay Kumar, and appointed him in the same post in Rajasthan.

The appointment order was issued by BJP National General Secretary Arun Singh, marking a key change in the party’s organisational structure in the hill state at a time when preparations for the next Assembly elections are gaining momentum.

The development comes shortly after BJP national president Nitin Nabin’s visit to Uttarakhand and is being viewed as an important political move by the party leadership. With the BJP already shifting into election mode, the organisational change is seen as part of a broader strategy to strengthen the party ahead of the 2027 electoral battle.

Ajay Kumar has been one of the most influential figures in the Uttarakhand BJP organisation for several years. He played a crucial role in organisational appointments, election management and coordination between the party and the state government. During his tenure, the BJP registered significant electoral successes and expanded its organisational network across the state.

However, in recent months, discussions about possible changes in the state unit and concerns over the functioning of the organisation had also surfaced within party circles. Political observers believe that Kumar’s transfer to Rajasthan is part of the BJP leadership’s efforts to recalibrate its strategy and infuse fresh energy into the Uttarakhand unit.

Analysts say the BJP’s central leadership is keen to leave no room for complacency in a state where it is struggling to retain power for a third consecutive term.

While the party has described the move as a routine organisational exercise, Ajay Kumar’s exit is widely being seen as a significant development. More organisational changes in the Uttarakhand BJP are expected in the coming months as the party gears up for the 2027 elections.
