Veteran Bollywood actress and Cine and TV Artistes Association (CINTAA) president Poonam Dhillon has been hospitalised at Lilavati Hospital in Mumbai after being diagnosed with dengue.
Dhillon, 64, has reportedly been undergoing treatment at the hospital for the past several days and is now recovering. A health update shared by the media said the actress had confirmed that she was recovering when contacted on Saturday.
The development has caused concern among her fans and well-wishers, who have been wishing the veteran actor a speedy recovery. Further details about her medical condition have not been officially disclosed, although reports indicate that there are no immediate indications of any major complication.
Dhillon, who has enjoyed a long career in Hindi cinema, is known for films including Noorie, Trishul, Sohni Mahiwal and Naam. She continues to remain active in the film and television fraternity and currently heads CINTAA.
Her hospitalisation comes at a time when CINTAA is facing an internal controversy, with eight members of its executive committee having recently resigned amid allegations concerning the functioning of the association. Dhillon has strongly rejected the allegations against her and senior vice-president Padmini Kolhapure.
For now, the focus remains on Dhillon’s recovery, with fans and colleagues hoping that the veteran actress will soon return home in good health.
