A loud sound in Premnagar and nearby areas in Dehradun on Monday afternoon aroused curiosity among citizens with people frantically ringing up control room to get details.

SSP Dehradun Ajai Singh rushed to Premnagar area and was inquiring about the incident. After an assessment, police is saying it could be a sonic boom sound created by a fighter jet. But there was no confirmation yet.

Police has advised the people not to get panicky and remain calm.
