Two women died during delivery in Bhadrabad hospital

A private hospital in Bahadarabad town of Haridwar district in Uttarakhand was sealed after two women died in the maternity ward during the delivery, police said on Monday.

The action against Maa Ganga Maternity and Eye Care Hospital came on the basis of complaints given to the police by the husbands of the two women. Two cases have been registered against the doctors and staff of the hospital. In view of the seriousness of the incident, the hospital has been sealed in the presence of a magistrate.

An inquiry has also been ordered by the Chief Medical Officer in this regard.

According to the police, Meenakshi (30), a resident of Sidcul area of ​​Haridwar, was admitted to the hospital for delivery on Sunday, where she gave birth to a son around the noon. The doctors informed the family that both the mother and the child were healthy. At around four in the evening, the doctors told Meenakshi that she was suffering from blood loss, for which blood was arranged but in the meantime her health started deteriorating and she died.

In the second incident that too happened on Sunday, Khushbu, a resident of Roorkee, gave birth to a baby girl following a surgery in the hospital. Shortly after the delivery, her health started deteriorating and she also died.

The condition of the two children is however normal.

After two incidents in a single day, the family members of the two deceased women created a ruckus accusing the doctors of negligence. The officials who reached the spot convinced the family with great difficulty and sent the bodies for post-mortem. After the ruckus, the authorities sealed the hospital.
