The multi-agency relief and rescue operation in the disaster-hit Dharali and nearby areas in Uttarakhand on Friday was ramped up with Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami closely monitoring the situation on the ground zero.
About 250 persons were either rescued or evacuated from different areas like Gangotri, Harsil and Dharali, top officials said.
Nearly 729 people have been rescued or evacuated so far from different parts of Uttarkashi including Gangotri since Thursday.
However, confusion still persisted over the exact number of people who were missing in the August 5 disaster at Dharali.
The army engaged in the rescue operation on Thursday said nearly 70 persons were rescued from Dharali. However, there was no update from the army on Friday.
The multi-agency rescue operation was continuing on the war-footing at Dharali with rescuers using all modern gadgets, drones and sniffer dogs to find any survivor in the huge debris of the deluge in Khirgard stream apparently triggered due to cloudbursts or glacial lake outbursts in the nearby snow-capped hills.
Meanwhile, Dhami visited the mudslide-filled Dharali to review the on-going search and rescue operation. He interacted with top army officials and commended them for their courageous response under adverse conditions.
Dhami also emphasized on the seamless cooperation between all agencies to jointly operate and respond to the situation.
