At the age 40, soccer great Cristiano Ronaldo has announced his engagement with Argentine-born Spanish model Georgina Rodríguez (31) after more than nine years of relationship.
Ronaldo, who remains an unmarried man, is father of five children with two from Rodriguez. The couple shared a home in Riyadh.
One reason for announcing the engagement could be pressure under the tough Saudi Arabia’s laws against unmarried couples. And now the curiosity has arisen among his fans as to when the Portuguese star footballer will announce his wedding date.
Rodriguez gave birth to a daughter in 2017. Later, she also gave birth to twins in 2022 but the male twin died while the female survived. She took to the social media to flaunt her engagement ring.
She announced the engagement via Instagram on Aug 11.
Ronaldo’s father, José, died of an alcoholism-related liver condition at age 52 in September 2005 when Ronaldo was 20.
After her son achieved legendary status in world football, Ronaldo’s mother, Dolores Aveiro, became a popular personality in Portugal to such an extent that she started doing advertising campaigns for well-known brands.
Ronaldo first became a father to a son, Cristiano Ronaldo Jr., who was born on 17 June 2010 in the United States. He has full custody of the child and has not publicly revealed the identity of the mother per an agreement with her.
