Exit polls: BJP for sure in Assam, close fight in other states

PrashantNews

The exit polls released on April 29 for four states have by and large failed to offer an early snapshot of the May 4 counting outcome.

An analysis of the exit polls shows the usual caveat of uncertainty. Except Assam, all the three other states – West Bengal, Tamil Nadu and Kerala appear to be heading for a close fight between the main leading political parties in respective states.

In West Bengal, both Trinamool Congress and BJP are in neck and neck fight with a difference of only 20 to 30 seats between them. This means that either of the two can march ahead on the counting day. The difference may narrow down to 5 to 10 seats. In any case, there should not be a tie.

In the best interest of West Bengal, both BJP and TMC should join hands for the lasting peace and robust development of the state that would also give the advantage of the double engine government. This may be a joke in a bleak scenario.

In Tamil Nadu, though DMK’s chances of coming back to power appear bright, mega star Vijay has brought a sort of political storm (only in media) with one exit poll showing his party TVK will get a handsome majority. But surprisingly, another exit poll gave a majority to AIADMK.

Similarly in Kerala, though there is close fight between UDF and LDF, all the exit polls are indicating that the people might have voted for a change this time.
