A BJP woman leader was arrested and later expelled from the party after she allowed her lover and others to gang-rape her 13 year old daughter in Haridwar and other areas, police said.
The accused boyfriend identified as Sumit Patwal (33) along with a friend has also been arrested. The police is also investigating the role of other people in the sexual exploitation of the girl.
Police said the woman, who had been living separately from her husband after a dispute a few months ago, forced her daughter to consume alcohol so the two men could rape her.
The woman was also a top functionary of Haridwar BJP party. A collage of the woman photographs with top BJP central and state leaders has also gone viral in the social media.
The first gang-rape incident took place in January when the girl was raped inside a car in front of her mother, who was also sitting in the same car. The mother also took her daughter to different areas like Vrindabad and Agra where she was forced to face same horrendous acts. The girl was gang-raped eight times between January and March, a top police officer said.
“This is a heinous crime which needs to be condemned in the strongest words,’ said Renu Bisht, a social worker.
