An earthquake measuring 5 on the Richter scale hit Nepal and its nearby areas in Uttarakhand early on Saturday.

However, no loss of life and property has been reported so far from any part of the region, officials said.

The epicenter of the earthquake which was felt around 4 AM was Jumla area of Nepal, geologists said.

The shocks of the earthquake were also felt in Pithoragarh district in India adjoining Nepal.
