Four elderly men from Chandigarh, Delhi killed in Tehri car accident

Four elderly men who were returning home after attending a religious ceremony were killed when their car fell into a ditch in Kirtinagar area of Uttarakhand’s Tehri district.

The accident occurred on the Kirtinagar-Badhiyargarh motor road on Monday evening when the car carrying four people suddenly fell 40 metres down the road into the ditch. All the four men were residents of Chandigarh and Delhi and had gone to their native village Malgaddi in Tehri district for the religious ceremony, local BJP MLA Vinod Kandari said.

As soon as the information about the accident was received, teams of the tehsil administration and the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) reached the spot and started relief and rescue operations.

The injured were immediately rushed to Srikot Base Hospital where doctors declared them dead.

The deceased have been identified as Darshan Singh Aswal (70), Dharam Singh Aswal (70), Karna Singh Panwar (65) and Rajendra Singh Panwar (60).

The exact cause of the accident could not be ascertained. However, the district administration has ordered an investigation.
