Helicopter with seven people crashed near Kedarnath

A helicopter carrying six pilgrims along with pilot on Sunday morning crashed on the Kedarnath route in Uttarakhand, top officials said.

A search and rescue operation has been launched near the Gaurikund area where the crash occurred. The chopper was returning from Kedarnath shrine with six pilgrims and a pilot when it suddenly crashed apparently due to bad weather and a suspected technical snag. All the pilgrims were from Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra and Gujarat.

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami expressed his grief over the crash and said the rescue operation has been launched with the assistance of the SDRF and local administration.
