One more person was killed and another injured when a tree fell on a passenger vehicle near the Forest Research Institute (FRI) in Dehradun on Tuesday, police said.
In the past one week, a woman and an auto driver have died in different areas in Dehradun in tree-fall incidents. In addition to this, two persons died at Tiger waterfall area in Chakrata on May 26 when a tree fell on them.
In the latest incident on Tuesday, a big tree fell on Max vehicle carrying six passengers. The vehicle was going to Barkot area in Uttarkashi district. The tree was apparently uprooted due to heavy rains in Dehradun during the past 48 hours.
Arvind Pal (48) who received serious injuries was declared dead in a hospital. The other injured person was also taken to hospital. The driver and other passengers did not receive any injuries, police said.
The vehicle was also badly damaged.
