Higher reaches of Uttarakhand receive snowfall

Higher reaches of Garhwal Himalayas including Kedarnath and Badrinath and Hemkund Sahib areas continued to receive intermittent snowfall during the past 24 hours as rains lashed many parts of north India including Uttarakhand.

Hailstorm was also observed in some places in Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh, IMD said.

The temperature in Dehradun and other places continued to fall by 10 notches making the weather conditions in the first week of June very pleasant. In Dehradun, the maximum temperature on Tuesday fell to 27.6 degree C and minimum going further down to 19.8 degree C. The temperature in Dehradun has fallen by 8-10 degree in the past 2-3 days in the state capital.

Rain or thunderstorm may continue for another 2-3 days in Dehradun and other areas of the hill state.  From June 7 onward, the sky will be mainly clear, the met department said.

The met department has predicted that monsoon rains are likely to arrive in Uttarakhand after June 10.
