Rains on Wednesday lashed Dehradun and many other parts of Uttarakhand giving a respite from the sweltering heat.
After Dehradun on Tuesday recorded hottest day of June this year with mercury touching 39.1 degree C, the temperature also dropped considerably due to rains. The maximum temperature dropped to 36.9 degree C.
However, the minimum temperature rose exceptionally to touch 27.6 degree in Dehradun on Wednesday which was 4.4 degree more than the normal.
Met Director Bikram Singh said the thunder showers are expected to continue for many days which may signal the arrival of monsoon rains in the next few days. “By June 15, 16 we are expecting more rains which should be considered as monsoons,” Singh suggested.
