When jumbo gives tense moments to motorists amid traffic jam

Amid the traffic snarl-ups in Uttarakhand, an elephant on Monday was seen loitering on the Haridwar-Najibabad highway giving tense moments to the motorists.

However, the jumbo later found his way into the nearby Rajaji National Park at Shyampur where it soon disappeared into the jungles, eye-witnesses said.

“It was very scary. We were caught in the traffic jam when all of a sudden, an elephant appeared from nowhere and began walking on the highway. Thanks God, no untoward incident took place,” said Saroj Arya, a resident of Haridwar.

The frequent traffic snarls are occurring in Haridwar and other parts of Uttarakhand these days mainly due to the heavy summer tourist rush.
