Heatwave conditions abated as temperatures continued to fall in the North India with several parts experiencing rainfall on Wednesday.
The IMD said the weather conditions would remain wet in the next 6-7 days at several places in north India including Uttarakhand.
In Dehradun, the maximum temperature fell to 33.4 which was one degree below normal. Several other parts like Pantnagar, Mukteshwar and New Tehri in Uttarakhand, the temperatures fell considerably.
Met centre in Dehradun said the weather will be partly cloudy on Thursday in the Doon valley. “Very light to light rain/thunderstorm accompanied with lightning and gusty wind (40-50 kmph) likely to occur in some areas. Maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be around 34°C and 21°C (in Dehradun),” it said.
Jammu and several other parts of north India experienced rainfall giving much-needed relief to the people. “I switched off the fan in the afternoon when it was raining,” said Rakesh Sharma, a government official in Jammu city.
The met centre further said thunderstorm accompanied with lightning / intense to very intense spell of rain/ gusty winds (speed 40-50 Kmph) likely to occur at isolated places in hills of Uttarakhand on Thursday.
