Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday announced that the government has decided to establish fast-track courts to ensure the swift trial and stringent punishment of those involved in NEET examination paper leak cases, reiterating its commitment to protecting the interests of students across the country.
In a strong message against those responsible for compromising the integrity of competitive examinations, Modi said the authorities have been directed to take all necessary steps to operationalise the fast-track courts at the earliest.
“We have decided to set up fast-track courts to ensure swift and stringent punishment for those involved in paper leaks. I have directed the concerned authorities and officials to take all necessary steps in this regard. This continues our series of steps for safeguarding the interests of students,” the Prime Minister said in a statement on social media.
Emphasising the government’s zero-tolerance policy towards examination-related fraud, Modi asserted that those attempting to jeopardise the future of the country’s youth would face severe consequences.
“Those who try to harm the future of our youth will not be spared,” he said.
The announcement comes amid growing concerns over recurring paper leak incidents in various recruitment and entrance examinations across several states, which have triggered widespread protests by students and raised questions over the credibility of examination systems.
The Centre has in recent years taken several measures to curb examination malpractices, including enacting a stringent anti-paper leak law that prescribes severe penalties for those involved in organised exam fraud.
The proposed fast-track courts are expected to accelerate the prosecution of offenders, ensuring that cases are resolved quickly and serving as a strong deterrent against future paper leaks. The move is also aimed at restoring the confidence of millions of students preparing for competitive examinations and government recruitment tests.
The Prime Minister reiterated that safeguarding the aspirations of young people remains one of the government’s top priorities and affirmed that every possible step would be taken to ensure transparency, fairness and accountability in the examination process.
