Mohammad Mushtaq (32) was arrested from Sitarganj area on Tuesday after he allegedly beheaded Puja Mandal (36), a mother of two, and later threw the two body pieces in a canal at Khatima area in the district in November-December last year, SSP Udhamsingh Nagar Manikant Mishra said on Thursday.
Mushtaq took Puja to the canal side on a motorcycle under the pretext of an outing. On reaching the Khatima canal, Mushtaq beheaded Puja with a sharp-edged knife. He later threw the two pieces into canal and came back home quietly. Puja was having two kids from her divorced husband.
When the matter came to light few days ago following detailed investigations, Mushtaq was arrested on Tuesday and taken to Gurugram for further investigations by the Haryana police.

Meanwhile, Puja went missing and her younger sister lodged a complaint in a Gurugram police station.

After rigorous interrogation, Mushtaq admitted his crime and said he allegedly murdered Puja as he was under pressure. After beheading Puja with a knife, he threw the two pieces in the Khatima canal.
