A Srinagar-bound Indigo flight from New Delhi on Wednesday evening hit midair turbulence, prompting the pilot to declare an emergency landing, officials said.
Passengers took to the social media to claim that the nose of the aircraft was slightly damaged.
The Indigo flight 6E2142 encountered severe turbulence due to a hailstorm while approaching Srinagar. The aircraft was carrying 227 passengers.
“The flight landed safely at Srinagar airport at 6:30 PM. All passengers and aircrew are safe,” an airport official said.
The aircraft has been declared AOG (Aircraft on Ground) by the airline for technical inspection and maintenance following the weather-related incident. No injuries were reported, and the situation was promptly handled by air traffic control and emergency response teams, the official added.
