Tungnath temple nestling in the Garhwal Himalayas in Uttarakhand was on Wednesday reopened for pilgrims amid all Hindu rituals.
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami extended his best wishes to the pilgrims visiting Tungnath.
“Today, the doors of the prestigious Shri Tungnath Mahadev Temple, one of the Panch Kedars, have also been opened amidst the chanting of Vedic mantras. A heartfelt welcome, congratulations, and best wishes for an auspicious journey to all devotees arriving in the divine land of Uttarakhand for the Char Dham and Panch Kedar pilgrimage. I pray to Lord Mahadev, the God of Gods, that everyone’s journey be joyful, safe, and auspicious,” he said.
Tungnath Temple is one of the highest Shiva temples in the world and is the highest of the five Panch Kedar temples located in the Rudraprayag district in Uttarakhand. The Tungnath (literal meaning: Lord of the peaks) mountains form the Mandakini and Alaknanda river valleys. It is located at an altitude of 3,680 m (12,073 ft), and just below the peak of Chandrashila.
