The Uttarakhand government on Friday sent District Magistrate Dehradun Savin Bansal to hold talks with unemployed youths who are on indefinite dharna in the state capital seeking CBI probe in the paper leak case along with three more demands.
However, Bansal could not convince the youths to end the dharna. “There was nothing positive in the talks with the District Magistrate Bansal,” said Suresh Singh, vice president of the Uttarakhand Berojgar Sangh, which is spearheading the agitation.
Singh said the youths would continue their dharna till their demands are met,
On the other hand, a group of Congress leaders under the leadership of state party president Karan Mahara staged a sit-in in front of Gandi Park in Dehradun to support the demands of the agitated unemployed youths. Congress is also seeking a CBI probe into the paper leak case.
The government has ordered a SIT probe under the supervision of a High Court judge in the alleged question paper leak of the Uttarakhand Subordinate Services Selection Commission (UKSSSC) graduate-level examination on Sept 21. Khalid Malik, a candidate, had sent screenshots of the paper outside the Bahadrabhad Jat centre in Haridwar. This caused a big uproar in the social media with a group of unemployed youths holding protests and later staging the indefinite dharna near Parade Ground.
The Uttarakhand Berojgar Sangh, which is protesting against the alleged leak of three pages of a question paper has demanded a CBI investigation into the “irregularities in the examination.” They have also demanded the immediate resignation of the UKSSSC’s chairman G S Martolia, cancellation of the examination, and amendments in the recruitment rules.
