More than a week after a helicopter fell in Uttarkashi district, a chopper carrying AIIMS medical staff crash-landed at Kedarnath area in Uttarakhand damaging its tail on Saturday.

However, all the persons including pilot escaped unhurt as only the tail was damaged in the crash landing near the Kedarnath helipad, official sources said. The chopper carrying medical staff was going to Kedarnath from Rishikesh to bring a medically critical patient on the request of the Rudraprayag district administration.

An inquiry has been ordered in the crash landing of the chopper, the sources said.

Meanwhile, the government is studying the inquiry report of the May 8 helicopter crash in which a pilot and five Chardham pilgrims were killed in the hills of Gangnani area in Uttarkashi district. The helicopter belonging to Aerotrans Service Pvt Ltd was flying a total of six pilgrims from the high altitude Yamunotri to Gangotri when the crash occurred.
