Eight people, including five women, were killed and five seriously injured when a jeep fell into a deep gorge in Pithoragarh district of Uttarakhand on Tuesday.
The incident took place in Suni village where a Max jeep which was going to Bokta village went out of control and fell into the gorge.
Eight people, mostly locals, died on the spot, police said.
Police and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) personnel reached the spot and started rescue work with the help of local people.
The injured were rushed to the hospital in Muwani.
